Manuel started his studies of composition in the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona. He participated the composition-classes of Luis Naón and Agustín Charles, where he concentrated in his last study year in the combination of different visual arts and music.
During the summer of 2007 he traveled to the peruvian Amazon for teaching music inside little native communities. The same year he went to the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki as an exchange student and continued his studies of composition and orchestration. During all these years he attended many seminars and composition workshops in different european countries. During 2012-13 he realized an advanced postgraduate in composition in the Royal Music School of Aarhus (Denmark). He’s been granted to reside at the “Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf”, “Schloß Hundisburg”, “Kunstlerhaus Schreyahn” (Germany) and at the Visby Center for Composers (Sweden).
In 2011 he was awarded the Tremplin Prize given by the Ensemble Intercontemporain. In 2014 he won the Prize of the National Institute for Performing Arts and Music of Spain.
His music was performed by musicians as Ascolta Ensemble, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Klangforum Wien members, Avanti! Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Vertixe Sonora Ensemble, CrossingLines Ensemble, Ensemble BCN 216, Grup instrumental de Valencia, etc.
At present he writes for the Distractfold Ensemble (Manchester), Ensemble Manufaktur für aktuelle Musik (Cologne), Ensemble Intercontemporain (Paris) and the Crossing Lines Ensemble (Barcelona).
